Highland Baskets was established in 1990 as an offshoot to the retail store The Country Goose . Owner, Leonora Burton, bought The Country Goose in 1986. At first it was little more than a hobby. However, the store attracted a devoted following among both locals and visitors to the Village of Cold Spring and now, 23 years later, it has flowered into one of the most successful businesses in the Hudson Valley. When she launched the gift basket division, she became even more successful, reaching out to clients as far a field as California and as close as a block away. Hudson Valley Magazine chose Highland Basket's designs as the best in the area. All baskets are custom designed to fit the needs and interests of the recipients. Leonora's work has also been featured in Gift and Decorative Accessories, Gourmet Food, The New York Times, The Journal News and other major publications. In response to requests, she introduced Seminars for Success, in which she teaches the secrets of getting into the gift basket business. Attention to detail and giving good value are the basis of her success.
