Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts Information

The Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts (Foundation) was incorporated in 2003 as a nonprofit foundation to promote and support the creation of an Arts Center in downtown Herndon. Our mission is to establish and sustain the Arts Center through leadership, advocacy, fund raising, programming, policy setting and operation. Our vision is for the Arts Center to be a gathering place to celebrate the arts in the historic downtown area, a centerpiece of the community with artistic performances, exhibits and educational opportunities where people can celebrate the uplifting and unifying role the arts play in all our lives. In an effort to begin arts activities in downtown Herndon, the Foundation raised private funds and renovated the facility rented from the Town of Herndon to create three distinct spaces: an art gallery with museum quality lighting and a professional art hanging system, an art lab or wet classroom, and a dry classroom or meeting space. The arts center opened Labor Day Weekend 2008 as ArtSpace Herndon. Since September 2008, the Foundation has worked with local arts organizations in a collaborative effort to attract quality programming to ArtSpace. We offer a new visual arts exhibit each month in the Gallery plus classes for adults, teens, and children and arts events. We have also made the space available to support the activities other local arts organizations and offer rentals to businesses and private citizens for their events.
