Heritage Architectural Associates Information

Heritage Architectural Associates is a full service architectural firm specializing in architectural restoration, additions to historic structures, new design within historic contexts, and downtown revitalization. Established in 1998, the firm is led by Steven Avdakov, a registered architect with over twenty years of architectural and historic preservation experience. The firm's work is grounded by a philosophy that respects the impact of time upon the built environment. Central to this philosophy is the belief that new design in an historic setting should reference its context yet reflect current construction techniques and building materials. Most of the firm's commissions to date have involved historic resources that are listed or are eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Additionally, as many of the firm's restoration projects have involved public funding (including state and federal sources) or federal permitting, much of its work has been subject to Section 106 review for compliance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation by several State Historic Preservation Offices (SHPO), and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.
