Founded in 1973, Esporão is today one of Portugal's most important wine and olive oil producers, while also making Sovina craft beer and offering a wide range of tourism experiences. It all began in the Alentejo region at Herdade do Esporão, where emblematic wines such as Esporão Reserva and Monte Velho are produced, as are extra virgin olive oils. In the Douro Valley, it is based at Quinta dos Murças, and in Vinho Verde it operates at Quinta do Ameal. Esporão is dedicated to pursuing organic agriculture and enhancing sustainability while building close relationships with customers and consumers in more than 50 countries around the world. In all three regions, Alentejo, Douro and Vinho Verde, Esporão welcomes guests, introducing them to its products with special activities, and, in the case of Herdade de Esporão, at its own restaurant, awarded both a Michelin Star and a Michelin Green Star.

FAMILY of Wines. Wines of a FAMILY Everything began over seven generations ago in 1834, with an act of irreverence and audacity from our founder. For some, it may have seemed like a thoughtless act, but for us in the family it was the first step of a visionary. Families are like that, they believe in us. Since then, much has happened. We went from being in just one region to the whole country, but before that, we had already been around the world. There were acquisitions, sales, mergers, wars, crisis and mistakes. Learnings and more mistakes. Improvements and growth. Always as a Family. But something always remained the same. And even became stronger. Our values. This is what lasts through time and this is what us, as a family, will not live without. The perseverance, the will to do more, to create something new, to never forget our past. We are already in the eight generation, who inspire us in our new creations. In ways of reaching farther. A Family of wines from different regions, different segments, but produced with the same care and passion. And this is why it doesn't make sense for us to only talk about varieties, awards, history, authenticity or quality. Two centuries take at least 200 more years to build. For us it makes sense that, as a family of wines, we offer wines for the families. Quinta do Crasto, S.A. is a Portuguese company dedicated to Douro and Port wine production and which received Portuguese SME Leader status in 2015. Its headquarters is in Gouvinhas, in the municipality of Sabrosa in Northern Portugal. This is the heart of the Douro Valley, the first demarcated and regulated wine region in the world, recognised as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2001. Quinta do Crasto benefits from exceptional conditions for producing wines and olive oils of the highest possible quality.Each year, Quinta do Crasto produces 1,400,000 bottles of Douro and Port wines. Twenty-five per cent is sold domestically and the rest is exported to around 40 markets worldwide, on all continents. The last three years have witnessed the launch of one new wine per year. Crasto Superior Branco, a Douro DOC wine, came out in 2014, and Crasto Superior Syrah, a Regional Duriense wine, in 2015 – both were the fruit of innovation and were crafted to conquer new international markets. A new Port wine is planned to be released this year. In addition to wines, Quinta do Crasto also produces 45,000 bottles of extra virgin olive oil yearly from its own organic groves in the area of Cima Corgo and Douro Superior. Quinta do Crasto stands hands above the domestic market in terms of tourism as well. Quinta do Crasto is an estate that simply cannot be missed by those hoping to enjoy the Portuguese wine country. In 2015, the Quinta welcomed more than 3,500 visitors, mostly from Brazil and Europe and in the same year Trip Advisor, the world´s largest travel site, awarded the estate its Certificate of Excellence. Each of these developments, allied with the passion of an entire team dedicated to seeking out the highest possible quality in wine and other products, have contributed to Quinta do Crasto’s growing national and international reputation.
