Every animal matters. At HUHA, we are dedicated to caring for and protecting animals in need. Our mission is fueled by three pillars that guide our work: ANIMALS FIRST: As New Zealand's leading no-kill shelter, we work every day to find loving homes and provide foster care for homeless, abandoned, seized, and abused animals. We firmly believe that every animal, whether native, introduced, livestock, or a pet, has inherent value. Ensuring their well-being and creating a safe, secure, and nurturing environment is our utmost priority. EMERGENCY CARE: When animals are in distress, our rapid response team springs into action, driving community efforts to provide immediate assistance. We are there during times of crisis, striving to lead the way in improving emergency care response for animals. Our goal is to make a real difference in animals lives when they need it the most. ADVOCACY & EDUCATION: We care deeply about fostering a strong connection between individuals and animals. Our mission extends beyond rescue and care; we aim to empower and educate owners and the community on sustainable and ethical practices. Through our advocacy initiatives, we fight tirelessly for the rights of animals, advocating for a more compassionate world. Based in Wellington, HUHA partners with animal welfare organisations and communities across Aotearoa, New Zealand and neighbouring countries during times of crisis. Together, we rescue, rehabilitate, rehome, and release thousands of animals each year. Join us in making a difference. Together, we can create a brighter future for animals in need. #AnimalWelfare
