Sela is how Birmingham gets everyday help done. Post a job, a Samford student nearby claims it, and you pay in the app only after the work is done. We started it as Samford students ourselves. We were the ones who needed the work, and we knew the homeowners who needed the help. Today more than 100 Samford students are on Sela, each one reviewed by hand before they can take a job. What people post: yard work, moving help, garages and attics, dump runs, pressure washing, furniture assembly, dog walking. Where: Homewood, Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Hoover and the rest of Birmingham. Realtors and property managers use Sela for turnovers, staging help and the small jobs that hold a closing up.
