Help Close By is a charity that uses technology to better address issues around poverty. We have built an app that helps coordinate poverty relief, such food parcel and meal deliveries – taking pressure off often small and over stretched charities and groups and allowing them to focus more on people and less on admin. We use the app ourselves and deliver food parcels to people who need them in an area of Birmingham, but during the pandemic the app was used by the likes of Food Cycle, Northfield Food Service and The Active Well-being Society (aka TAWS) whilst they had delivery capacity. We’d love to see the app used by more organisations and provide it free to all users. The app is easy to use but we do provide training on it’s use. It’s available in a range of languages, but we hope to add more.
