Emilie Helmstedt is born and raised in Copenhagen and is now living in freetown Christiania. She debuted with her first collection Oceania SS19 during Copenhagen Fashion Week in August 2018. Helmstedt's designs quickly received international recognition and were soon featured worldwide in Vogue Magazine, W. Magazine, Womenswear Daily to name a few. Helmstedt is an award winning brand that recently won the prestigious Magasin Du Nord Fashion Prize, given by the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark. A prize that has helped the brand in its preparation for successful growth. The Copenhagen native and designer Emilie Helmstedt is originally trained as a tailor and further educated at the Royal College of Fine Arts. Helmstedt favours a merge between the two worlds where quality, comfort and colours come first. Colour and prints drive the universe of Helmstedt, making her happy, making her breathe. The collection contains soft sets in silk velvet with piping details. Ruffled collared dresses and hand quilted jackets in heavy silk filled with organic cotton. With references to vintage loungewear, the impeccable construction and playful patterns make them perfectly suited for everyday wear. All prints are painted by hand in the designer's atelier in Copenhagen with highly visible strokes, in vibrant water and oil colours. The approach is light and playful, resulting in dresses with vibrant fishes and trousers with princess fairy-tale castles. The designs are effortless and most importantly they are fun, allowing the wearer to play and to dream, while bringing the pieces into everyday life.
