Heidehof Information

Nestled in a north-end residential subdivision of St. Catharines just off the shores of Lake Ontario and in the centre of Niagara Peninsula's wine and fruit-belt area, Heidehof offers a range of quality living environments and services for seniors, where the German language, cuisine, and culture still flourish. Governed by an independent volunteer Board of Directors operated under the direction of the management team and supported by a membership of those subscribing to its goals and objectives, Heidehof has been serving the German-Canadian community at its current location since 1972. Programs offered at Heidehof include the following:Heidehof Long Term Care Home for those requiring full service 24 hour care under the supervision of professional nurses and have been assessed by a Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) as being in need of a Nursing Home bed. Edelweiss Seniors' Rental Apartments for those desiring independent living settings in compact bachelor, one and two bedroom apartment units. Certain amenities and programs are available to these tenants to assist them in maintaining their independence significantly beyond what would be available in an independent rental apartment building typically found in our community. Lindenhaus Seniors' Life Lease Apartments for those desiring independent living settings in generously sized one, two and three bedroom units. Again, certain amenities and programs are available to these tenants to assist them in maintaining their independence significantly beyond what would be available in an independent life lease or condominium complex typically found in our community. Assisted Living Services in Support Housing for those tenants living in our rental or life lease apartment units who have an assessed need for a broad range of non-professional support within our funded package of available services. In addition we can assist tenants in accessing professional services through a referral to Access Niagara. Community Aqua -Therapy Pool for those residing at Heidehof and for those in the community upon the recommendation by a physician who can benefit from structured and/or unstructured therapy exercises in a pool setting. Volunteers are encouraged to share their time and talents in any number of ways within Heidehof's formal volunteer program to improve the quality of life of the seniors under our care. Activities can be directly related to resident care or indirectly through our many activities to raise funds to be used for betterments within our facilities. Other Activities undertaken a Heidehof are meant to provide enriched quality of life for those under our care either directly or indirectly. These activities include congregate dining services available to tenants under our care; hall rentals available to the community for weddings and other special events through our approved caterer, entertainment events geared for our residents throughout the year; and special fund raising events sponsored by board, staff, volunteers, or others from time to time geared directly to the community.
