Most organizations are trying to build belonging. Very few are building the conditions that make it possible. When my son came out in 2017, I started building the resources our family couldn't find. What I discovered in that process — about psychological safety, unlearning, and what it takes for someone to tell the truth out loud — turned out to be just as true in boardrooms as in living rooms. Organizations face the same challenge families do: how do you create a space where people stop performing and start showing up? I'm Heather Hester. Author, keynote speaker, coach, and three-time Women in Podcasting Award winner. I work with HR teams, leadership groups, and conference audiences on belonging, psychological safety, and brave conversations.
