Hardywood’s mission is to brew with purpose. This charge comes alive in thoughtfully innovative recipes, a commitment to using local ingredients and an obsession over quality. Beers range in style from traditional to experimental, but there’s a story behind each one.
Hardywood is deeply dedicated to minimizing its environmental impact. All power is sourced from renewable energy, and recycled packaging and sustainable materials are used whenever possible.
Founded in Richmond, Virginia, by lifelong friends, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery has been soulfully brewing beer since 2011. Today, Hardywood operates a brewery and taproom in Richmond as well as a pilot brewery and taproom in Charlottesville. In early 2018, Hardywood opened their new $28M West Creek brewing facility and beer campus, just west of Richmond. Hardywood beers have earned international acclaim with medals at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival as well as a rare 100 rating by BeerAdvocate Magazine.
Hardywood beers are currently distributed domestically throughout Virginia and Washington, D.C., – and soon, Atlanta and Raleigh-Durham, as well as in selective international markets.
Offering beers inspired by the traditions of Europe and the innovation of America, Wild Heaven seeks to raise the profile of beer in the South. Wild Heaven distributes its beers, including Emergency Drinking Beer and Sunburst IPA throughout Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and South Carolina and operates taprooms at its three brewery locations in Atlanta’s Avondale Estates, West End and Toco Hills neighborhoods.
Wild Heaven Beer was launched by Georgia natives Nick Purdy and Eric Johnson, who had known each other since 1992, in 2010. When we launched we were only the 5th Georgia beer company to be operating. We made our beers for 3 ½ years in Greenville, SC by Thomas Creek brewing (Ode To Mercy, Invocation, Eschaton, and Let There Be Light).
In 2014, we opened our brewery in Avondale Estates, featuring the original brewhouse originally purchased by the founders of SweetWater Brewing back in 1997. In the year after opening Avondale, we launched Civilization Barleywine, White Blackbird Saison, Emergency Drinking Beer, and more, including a barrel program that has yielded numerous award-winning beers.
In late 2019 we opened our second brewery location in Atlanta’s Historic West End adjacent to the Westside Beltline Trail. This location features a full kitchen, operated by Taqueria El Tesoro, and a large private event space/music venue. We opened our third location in the Toco Hills development, in partnership with Fox Bros. BBQ, in the Fall of 2024.
Our core year-round portfolio is focused on world-class beers designed to offer something new to the beer landscape—not simply creating our version of what everyone else is doing. Our all-grain, no adjunct-sugar philosophy creates a bigger flavor without excess alcohol. We specialize in both culinary and botanically-driven recipes.
All three taprooms feature versatile private and semi-private Event Spaces, learn more: https://wildheavenbeer.com/private-event-venues
