Healthy Habitats is a 501 c3 organization that provides K-12 schools with funding and resources for service-learning projects related to the Texas Conservation Action Plan (TCAP). Students/teachers use inquiry-based learning to address local environmental questions and create action plans that benefit the local environment. The program enlists the help and support of multiple community, state, and national partners...including various government agencies, conservation groups, and businesses. This STEM education program has enjoyed a large amount of success, and many students have gone on to careers in various STEM and STEM-related fields. It has been especially successful in involving the under-represented STEM populations.
