Saddle Up!
Saddle Up!’s mission is to provide children and youth with disabilities the opportunity to grow and develop through therapeutic, educational and recreational activities with horses. Our Programs Saddle Up! serves children and youth with disabilities between the ages of 2 and 26 years old. Eligibility requirements differ depending on the program. Saddle Up! is a PATH International Premier Accredited Center which provides high-quality programs in the field of equine-assisted services. Based on your child’s needs and interests, we can provide Adaptive Riding, Therapy Services, Adaptive Horsemanship, Fun on the Farm, Equestrian Club, Interactive Vaulting, From the Ground Up, and/or Alumni Transitions. Why the horse? Nothing can compare to the power of the horse. The auto industry has put “horsepower” into their engines for decades, but there is a “horse power” beyond strength and speed that only a real horse can provide. Saddle Up! partners with their herd to offer children and youth with disabilities a unique environment to grow and develop. Our horses provide movement, support, learning opportunities, strength, stability, companionship, and much more to participants in all of our different programs.

HORSEPOWER is accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) as a Premier therapeutic horseback riding Center. Located in Colfax, HORSEPOWER has served North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad community since 1995. For people with mental, physical, social, or emotional disabilities and challenges, horseback riding and other equine activities prove to be a source of learning, happiness, and physical exercise. By using horses as an exciting source of motivation, and by moving therapy sessions from a doctor’s office to a horse’s back, HORSEPOWER’s program helps people with disabilities develop new motor skills, learn new words, and strengthen previously unused muscles.
