HeadSense Medical is developing a Non Invasive multi-parameter brain monitor . HeadSense’s first product is a working validated and CE approved non-invasive ICP monitor, and the company currently develops additional applications including cerebral vasospasm diagnosis, concussion diagnosis, TBI severity quantification, and others. HeadSense is developing an innovative device based on advanced signal analysis. The device looks like regular headsets and it connects to a tablet or smartphone based monitor. The underlying technology includes generation of a low frequency acoustic signal that propagates through the cranium and then picked by an acoustic sensor in the other ear. The signal is then analyzed using proprietary algorithms, and after few seconds of processing the data is displayed to the user. The device is single-use disposable, is capable of performing continuous monitoring, and provides quantitative data including ICP in mmHg (same as the current invasive gold-standard), diagnosis of vasospasm, detection and quantification of concussion, and other neurological parameters.
