Bacchus Marsh Medical Centre is the oldest medical centre in Bacchus Marsh. It has provided medical services to Bacchus Marsh and the surrounding areas since 1967. In 1975 the practice as it is today began to take formation. It was locally known as the Gell Street Clinic and established itself at 21 Gell Street, Bacchus Marsh. Dr David Stewart, the longest serving GP in the history of Bacchus Marsh Medical Centre, formed an Associateship with Dr Santino Bronchinetti and a number of others. Dr Paul Williams then commenced work in October 1987 and Dr Peter Schlesinger closed his solo practice to become a part of BMMC also. Continued growth saw another change of site. This time in premises at the Bacchus Marsh Hospital and Dr Siva Sooknandan joined BMMC after seeing the benefits that working in a large group practice could provide. A purpose built, modern medical centre was built on the current site, the corner of Turner and Grant Streets, and Bacchus Marsh Medical Centre began practicing from there in December 1997. It was officially opened on the 5th March 1998 by the Honourable Neil O'Keefe. At the same point in time, services were expanded, and a branch of Bacchus Marsh Medical Centre was opened in the Darley Plaza shopping precinct. By 2006 further growth meant the Darley Medical Centre was moved to the current site 147 Gisborne Road, Darley directly opposite the Darley Plaza. Dr David Stewart retired in 2003 after 35 years service to the Bacchus Marsh Community. Two further associates then joined the clinic, Dr Niresh Madhanpall in September 2004 and Dr Ravin Sadhai in July 2006. The medical practice continues to grow and prosper, as does the Bacchus Marsh area, further plans to expand services at both sites ensure that Bacchus Marsh Medical Centre will be an integral part of the future health care provisions in Bacchus Marsh.
