Seeking to create an interior space to match the Zuma ethos, Rainer Becker established a long-term collaboration with Noriyoshi Muramatsu, who worked with esteemed Tokyo design company Super Potato in their first project outside Japan. The result is a stylish environment that blends traditional craftsmanship with urban modernity and takes in every aspect, from staff uniforms to walls and tableware. Zuma is the result of a dedication and attention to detail that is rarely seen in any business. Its reward can be seen not only in our numerous awards, but also in the enduring loyalty of our clientele. Dishoom is proud to be recognised as one of the best places to work in hospitality. Looking after people is at the core of what we do, and we work hard to make life at Dishoom the best it can be. Our view is that it’s part of human nature to care about making people happy. We all care about this deeply. We call this Seva. Seva means having a big, warm heart. Seva means we don’t just serve people, we take them in and look after them to the very best of our ability – guests and team alike. Alongside running busy sites with large teams, we also believe in doing more. Each year, we pledge to plant a tree for every Dishoom-walle, continue to break down barriers through our cultural events, and support children through our Meal for a Meal initiative. As of this year, we have donated 30 million meals (and counting) to children in the UK and India, with every Dishoomwalle contributing 55 meals per shift to this cause. Since 2010, our cafés have celebrated all of the food and drink of Bombay. We currently have cafés across London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and soon to be Leeds! Our cafés are bustling spaces where people come together to break down barriers and share in a love of Bombay food and culture. We have Permit Rooms in Brighton, Cambridge, Oxford, Portobello Road London and Liverpool. Our bar-cafés are lively spaces, woven into the fabric of their local communities.
