Harpeth Conservancy Information

Harpeth Conservancy is a science-based conservation organization dedicated to protecting clean water and healthy ecosystems for rivers across Tennessee by employing scientific expertise and collaborative relationships to develop, promote and support broad community stewardship and action. Founded in 1999 as the Harpeth River Watershed Association (HRWA), the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit successfully leads collaborations, builds consensus, solves problems, and puts solutions in place to maintain pristine areas and restore degraded areas. For 20 years, Harpeth Conservancy works with landowners, businesses, community, local, state, and federal decision-makers and others to: • Promote and help implement restoration projects for developments and farms that restore streams; • Participate in efforts to formulate regional development that will maintain vital rural lands; • Reduce pollution and ensure pollution problems are addressed; • Address sewer and drinking water challenges; • Conduct and fund river studies; • Shape state conservation and clean water policies; • Monitor, restore and protect the state scenic Harpeth River and its tributaries; and • Promote responsible recreation and safe access to enjoy our rivers. – So all rivers meet water quality standards that protect public health and wildlife for all Tennesseans.
