Founded in 1986, our first years were spent inside a cozy old firehouse on Snelling Ave. Word about the new studio traveled quickly, and our dance family grew and grew; owner and founder Marcy McHenry (a professional dancer herself) began dreaming of a larger floor to quickstep on. In 2010, her vision became reality, and Dancers Studio moved six blocks up the street to a gorgeous new space – where it remains to this day. Some things haven’t changed, though. We remain committed to excellence, both on and off the dance floor. Our instructors are personally interested in each and every one of their students, and have the knowledge and experience to help meet a variety of dance goals; our outgoing and friendly administrative team is always around to greet clients, answer questions, and schedule lessons. Crescendo Academy of Music offers private and group instruction in instrumental and vocal music from highly-qualified teachers and performers in Southwest Michigan. The academy provides opportunities for performances in a variety of local venues, lessons in music theory and composition, chamber ensembles, Orff studio classes for children and adults, and Music Together®, a nationally recognized early childhood music program. Pre-school children through adults over the age of seventy are active in Crescendo’s programs. Crescendo Academy of Music adheres to the National Guild for Community Arts Education‘s Code of Best Practices. Crescendo Academy of Music is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with funding support from major foundations, arts organizations, businesses and individual donors. It strives to make music accessible to all through need-based scholarships and an instrument loan program. The Academy provides services to all children and adults without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, weight, height, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran or marital status.
