Hangvető Information

We host WOMEX in 2020 in Budapest as one of the major actors of world music in the CEE region. We select, publish, stage and promote top & upcoming world music artists from Hungary and beyond. Hangveto has organised concerts and festivals since 2004, and is an established world and folk music label. After hosting a successful WOMEX event in 2015, Hangveto is proud to host the biggest international world music event again in 2020 with acclaimed partners such as Müpa Budapest, the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, Castle Garden Bazaar and A38 Ship. We also lead the consortium in the MOST music project which is a complex strategy to develop the Balkan World Music Scene supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union. Our main partners are the European Music Council, Bozar, Piranha Arts, Foundation Exit and Timisoara 2021. In Hungary uur main festivals are Budapest Ritmo and PONT Festival. We partner with numerous world music professionals across Europe to foster regional cooperation. Apart of this radio productions, copyright management, publishing and music industry training also feature in our core activities.
