A 501c3 non-profit organization, Hangar2, located in Magnuson Park, is a visionary plan to improve the physical, mental, and social well-being of youth in Seattle. A world class kids play experience, inclusive of all, that is grounded in current research and best practices for positive child development. Our program providers, counselors and mentors will introduce activities that develop essential life skills, such as teamwork, communication, adaptability, resilience, leadership and critical thinking. In our fun, educational environment boys and girls will play alongside peers, often from social conditions unlike their own, while exploring newfound passions and friendships. Through core partners like Special Olympics, Rise Above, CitysideLax, Skate Like a Girl, DigiPen, Seattle Select Basketball, and dozens of other regular program providers, we will have: • Deep reach into many communities that typically have limited access to such program variety. • Scholarship funds directed towards the underserved youth in the region, including the 400 kids living with their families in on-site affordable housing. H2 will restore two majestic former Naval Air Station hangars into a grand indoor neighborhood, providing equal access to safe, year-round Arts, Technology and Athletic programs: • All-weather large venues are much needed in our Northwest climate, but they are a rarity. • At 130,000 sf our historic building, larger in size than the high majority of its peers.
