Hangar builds companies, institutions, and the occasional movement around problems of national importance. What we're good at: solving big, complicated public-sector problems with math, data, and compute. That has made us builders of artificial intelligence infrastructure and of the organizations that put it to work. We are company and organization builders first and foremost. Sometimes we build from scratch; sometimes we work with founders and inventors whose creations deserve national scale. We also help those who fund world-changing work build the institutions to deliver it. Everything we take on has to answer the same question. Will it genuinely improve public life? If yes, we build. Cornea gives first responders real-time information during wildfires. Camber organizes urban data so cities can move people more efficiently and cut emissions. Roster sends community members, backed by technology, to the patients the healthcare system misses. Three different problems; the same math underneath. We helped organize Empire AI, the $650M+ AI research consortium New York State launched with Governor Kathy Hochul. It gives the state's leading universities computing power once reserved for Big Tech. Researchers are using it to forecast flooding and extreme heat neighborhood by neighborhood, watch proteins move as they design new drugs, and catch heart-disease risk in scans earlier. Scientific computing is now national security infrastructure. The countries with the best tools do the best science, and the best intelligence. It's an old American lesson: when the public invests in open-ended research and scientists get the instruments to pursue hard questions, the returns compound for generations, in health, prosperity, and security.
