At HANDSOM we proudly produce our garments in small, family-owned and operated factories based in Hong Kong, South China, and Indonesia - with whom we have been working with since 2010, and have a very close relationships with. Our fabrics are predominantly sourced from Japan, Korea, Europe, Hong Kong, China and Indonesia, through a handful of reputable mills with whom we have also been working with for a number of years. Our garments are packaged in recyclable packaging, and where possible we ship via sea cargo to reduce our carbon footprint. Modern, ethical practices are employed by all of our factories. Our factory in Hong Kong / China participates in an annual SMETA audit, which focuses on labour standards, health and safety, the environment, and business ethics. Our factory has a 100% pass rate. Holidays and sick pay are in accordance with government laws, and in addition to this our factory provides insurance cover for all its employees. Employees hold regular meetings, and an elected representative communicates any feedback or issues to management to be addressed. Our Indonesian factories are small-scale, family-run businesses, comprised of skilled craftsmen - committed to producing high quality garments. All our factory employees are highly skilled professionals, who are paid a good wage in reflection of this, and work in clean, spacious and well lit environments. Our small-scale production allows us to take advantage of deadstock fabrics, and ends of rolls - minimising waste. Where possible we aim to use organic and/or recycled fabrics, and incorporate sustainable materials such as bamboo and lyocell (in the form of Tencel) into our collections. We use non-toxic dyes and eco-friendly printing techniques. Our factories aim to minimise their impact on the environment by using only recyclable packaging, and unavoidable waste is disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
