Handi Quilter began in 1998 with a quilter, a problem, and a practical solution. When founder Laurel Barrus couldn't find a portable quilting frame for a trip to her family cabin, she built one herself-light, compact, and adjustable. Friends wanted their own, word spread, and Handi Quilter was born. The idea proved itself at the 1999 International Quilt Festival, and by 2002 the company had grown from portable frames to reliable, affordable longarm machines designed for real homes and real budgets. From the start, our mission has been the same: remove barriers, simplify the craft, and help makers finish what they imagine. Today, Handi Quilter supports quilters in 55+ countries with tools that solve real problems, inspiration to spark creativity, education that builds confidence, and support that lasts. Our history guides our promise: innovate where it helps, teach along the way, and help makers stitch their stories.
