Handheld Press was founded in 2017 by literary historian Kate Macdonald to bring forgotten fiction back into print, and to publish new stories by and about remarkable people. Based in Bath in the west of England, Handheld has published sixteen titles in two years. Its core list is Handheld Classics, which republished Zelda Fitzgerald, Rose Macaulay, Sylvia Townsend Warner and John Buchan, among many others. Handheld Research publishes biography and letters, and Handheld Modern publishes new fiction by living authors, including the award-winning Nicola Griffith.
