Spring Valley Academy provides quality education influenced by Christ's teachings in three divisions for students:Elementary school, grades K-4Middle school, grades 5-8High school, grades 9-12In 1990, Spring Valley Academy became part of the State of Ohio auxiliary services program. Limited services are offered in the areas of psychological testing, speech and language diagnosis, counseling, school nursing, and tutoring. SVA is chartered by the State of Ohio and is accredited by The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Board of Regents of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. The school is currently operated by four Seventh-day Adventist churches: Beavercreek, Centerville, Kettering, and Miamisburg. The Ethan Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church is an affiliated church. Although SVA is a parochial school operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, students of all religious faiths are welcomed as a part of the school family, and their positive contributions to the school are appreciated.
The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk (MCPER) is the largest organized research unit in the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin. Founded in 2008 with support from the Meadows Foundation, we unite experts in reading, writing, math, STEM, cognitive psychology, neuroscience, bilingual education, special education, and early childhood to improve outcomes for all students—especially those at risk. Since our founding, MCPER has secured over $280 million in funding and currently manages $90 million in active grants and contracts.
MCPER conducts rigorous research, technical assistance, and program evaluation in areas such as autism, dyslexia, deaf education, English language learners, mathematics, science, and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). Our studies meet the highest evidence standards, and we lead nationally recognized initiatives like the Texas Reading Academies, Strong Foundations Framework, TIER, and the National Deaf Center on Postsecondary Outcomes. Through our strong dissemination network, we equip educators with proven strategies, high-quality professional development, and practical tools to make a lasting impact in schools and communities.
