HAL Computer Systems, Inc. was a computer manufacturer founded in 1990 by Andrew Heller, a key designer of the IBM POWER architecture. Focusing on RISC-based computers for the commercial market, Fujitsu invested in the company in 1991, acquiring full ownership in 1993. HAL produced computers featuring their SPARC64 processor, the first SPARC V9 microprocessor. While primarily sold in Japan, Fujitsu closed the subsidiary in 2001. A software division was later spun off as Chisholm Technologies, Inc.
