After 10+ years of our Co-Founder caring for his son, he soon realized that it was the lack of attention and vigilance that continues to cause blood stream, catheter related and surgical site infections. Healthcare associated infections (HAIs) in general account for about 1.7 million infections and 100,000 deaths in the US each year. The direct medical costs of HAIs in 2007 estimates that $35.7 to $45 billion is added to the US annual healthcare costs to treat these infections. Healthcare providers, while following guidelines for safety, are often: non-compliant, inefficient and lack the tools to deliver superior clinical care. Currently in healthcare there is no device that addresses all the potential pitfalls with administering multiple IV medications to patients whether administered in the operating room, emergency room or intensive care unit. HAI Solutions Inc (prev. Enspero) was launched to develop the EMDD platform. The EMDD is an Intelligent Fluid Management device providing an underlying level of protection to patient care during every stage of intravenous fluid movement. EMDD is a IV infusion device which includes a ratchet luer, preventing misconnections, and dual filtration manifold to prevent air embolism and microbe ingress. EMDD protects patients from accidental or negligent disconnection of the IV medications they receive by preventing contamination of the patient’s catheter and his or her blood stream. Self Priming, Dual Filter purges all air molecules from the IV line. Filters pharmaceutical fluid particulates, entrapped air and contamination of microbes. Our targets include Anesthesiologists and CRNA’s in hospitals, and surgery centers where patients are catheterized allowing clinicians to deliver multiple intravenous medications.Within the Hospital setting there are three health care settings to target including the Operating Room, Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department.
