Join us for HackCT’s inaugural Transportation Hackathon, a three-day gathering designed to drive new transit solutions for Eastern CT residents. The event will take place over the weekend beginning Friday, September 15th – the weekend before National Day of Civic Hacking. We will start by presenting the transportation issues facing the region and then form teams to build on those challenges and to create tangible solutions to a pressing problem. If an (almost) blank canvas isn’t enough to get you excited, you’ll be supporting a group of nonprofits in the Northeast region of Connecticut to implement a hackathon to develop innovative solutions to address the lack of access to public transportation in Windham County. Transportation is one of the top barriers to accessing critical social services, health care, education and training, employment, and healthy recreation for many in Connecticut. It is especially acute for those in rural regions, the elderly, and the low-income because reliance on personal vehicles is often the only option for getting around in many communities.
