Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region was founded in 1983 by seven local churches, and has remained a top Habitat for Humanity affiliate since its establishment. Through faith, innovation and passion, and thanks to the support of countless community partners, volunteers, donors and advocates, Habitat Charlotte Region has made a significant impact in Charlotte and the surrounding area since its founding. Through partner affiliates Habitat El Salvador, Habitat Guatemala & Habitat Cambodia! A world where everyone has a decent place to live. Seeking to put Gods love into action, Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. In 2016, Habitat Charlotte Regions board and staff created and adopted an ambitious Strategic Plan to take the organization into the next decade. With strategic goals in four main areas that comprise the mission people, homes, communities and hope the plan is helping to drive and focus the organizations staff toward an even greater impact on our communitys affordable housing crisis. Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region has an open-door policy: all who believe that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to be a part of the organizations work regardless of race, religion, age, gender, politics or any other distinction that too often divides people. In short, Habitat Charlotte Region welcomes volunteers, supporters and potential homeowners from all backgrounds. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. Habitat Charlotte Region will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith view.
