GVI is a non-profit, non-partisan research company which engaged in applied research in the area of economics and economic-sociology. The institute was established in 1999 by the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the aim that with the help of its research and surveys the Chamber can support its positions taken in the area of economic policy and also provide information for the companies rallied in the chamber concerning processes in the Hungarian and foreign markets. The aim of the institute is to provide empirically and theoretically substantiated knowledge and analysis of the economic and social processes that influence the situation and perspectives of Hungarian economy and Hungarian companies. The institute endeavours to facilitate an access to its knowledge and the results of its surveys to an increasingly broader section of Hungarian firms, companies rallied in the chamber, analysts and policy makers. This was our aim when we set up the internet web site of the Institute, where all our major analyses and papers are available, on the one hand, on the other hand indispensable for businesses information is also available concerning the situation of Hungarian macro-economy and the forecast of the European business cycle.
