Gunnedah is the hub of one of Australia's richest agricultural regions - the Liverpool Plains in North West New South Wales - and is located on the Kamilaroi and Oxley Highways. Known as 'The Koala Capital', Gunnedah's unique natural landscape is home to many species of native wildlife and paints a picture of real country Australia. It is little wonder that this beautiful area inspired poet Dorothea Mackellar to author "My Country". Gunnedah is rich in local history, from the stories of Red Chief of the Land of the Kamilaroi people dating back thousands of years, to the remains of an ancient Diprotodon that were found in fields of Tambar Springs. Gunnedah offers a vibrant culture of producers and creators; the bricks that frame the retail hub Conadilly Street are locally hand-made; stray from the main street to find street art, silo murals, sculptures and galleries, home to the leather of the iconic Kookaburra cricket ball and a true paddock-to-plate experience as you pass crops on your way to the pub.
