Guna Collaborative is an architecture firm established in 2023 in Portland, Oregon. It was formed by John Holmes, former founding partner and design director at Holst Architecture (1992-2017). Guna, which means "attribute" or "quality," strives to synthesize those properties which lie at the root of Architecture: light, line, and materiality. The circumstances of each project–its constraints, opportunities, location–serve as the departure point for wholistic and meaningful Architecture. Current projects include: a major campus redesign for the French International School of Oregon, a 600 unit Multifamily community in Tigard, Oregon, and a modern cottage cluster in Gresham, Oregon.
