GSN is a private organization (our application for non-profit status is pending) and our goal is to give the gift of microinsurance to as many poor and low-income people in developing countries as possible so they can experience the benefit of insurance and how it works. That way, people come to learn about insurance, which we believe will help diffuse microinsurance more among the poor who need it most. We raise donations from global corporations and individuals and use the money to subsidize the premium for microinsurance so the poor who cannot afford to buy insurance themselves will be able to buy the coverage they need. As the global economy grows, developed and developing countries are becoming increasingly interdependent each other. Tackling the issue of poverty in developing countries is necessary from the viewpoint of human rights, and it also serves the benefit of developed countries whose economies are closely tied to them. With an enthusiasm of giving microinsurance to as many people as possible and contributing to its availability, GSN was founded in Japan. GSN has a New York branch as well and plans to expand its field around the world.
