The Government of Karnataka, abbreviated as GoK, or simply Karnataka Government, formerly Government of Mysore, is a democratically elected state body with the governor as the ceremonial head to govern the Southwest Indian state of Karnataka. The governor who is appointed for five years appoints the chief minister and on the advice of the chief minister appoints his council of ministers. Key role of Department of Industries: 1. Policy formulation for industrial development, promotion of entrepreneurship and employment generation. 2. Co-ordination with the other department of the State Government to facilitate industrial investment. 3. Co-ordination with Government of India for the implementation of national level policies, schemes, programs and other reforms measures for industrial development, promotion of entrepreneurship and employment generation. Implementation of best governance practices promoting Ease of Doing Business. 4. Providing handholding support to the investors in terms of investment facilitation through single Window Clearance Mechanism, Project Management support etc. with a focus on women, weaker sections and differently abled entrepreneurs. 5. Promotion of Start-Ups and Innovation led business opportunities. 6. Capacity building of entrepreneurs through skill development training, incubation support, industrial exposures etc. 7. Creation and maintenance of industrial infrastructure including export related infrastructure. 8. Technological Upgradation and Capacity Building of Enterprises. 9. Promotion of Handloom, Handicrafts, Khadi & Village Industries. 10. Organizing industrial exhibitions, trade fairs, buyer-seller meets etc. and facilitating state based investors to participate in national level fairs, exhibitions etc. for market development. 11. Grievance redressal of investors.
