Square Roots is an indoor farming platform built to accelerate agricultural research in the face of climate change. Commercial organizations partner with Square Roots to secure guaranteed supply of specialty items and accelerate trials for new varieties. Non-commercial and pre-commercial organizations leverage the Square Roots platform to perform fundamental crop research and explore novel means and uses of plant production, for food and beyond. Square Roots was founded in 2016, is headquartered in New York City, and owns 5 commercial-scale facilities across the midwest USA.

Founded in 1994, Urban Harvest has garnered a well-deserved reputation as a leader in the local food movement. We focus on building food security and resiliency to the greater Houston community through weekly farmers market, adult and youth gardening education, mobile farmers markets and robust network of over 168+ community gardens. Our work provides thousands of people access to local, healthy food and supports an ever-growing network of farmers and growers in a 200 mile radius of Houston. Under the direction of an all-volunteer board, Urban Harvest has grown from humble beginnings to employ a full-time staff and literally thousands of volunteers. Funding comes from individual and corporate donations, private foundations, and public grants.
