He covered wars in the Middle East, emerging technology, new media, the dawning of the internet, the O.J. Simpson case, ice skater Tonya Harding, a dozen Presidential campaigns, the conflict over US Forest policy, the Oakland hills fires, the San Francisco and Los Angeles earthquakes, and forest fires in the west. He filed more than seventy on the scene reports on the 1989 Alaska Oil Spill and dozens of follow ups, the most of any network correspondent. Lefevre covered the Middle East in three tours, as Pentagon pool reporter during the Iran-Iraq war, and twice during the Gulf War.
