The Smiths have tended to the lands where Greensmith is located since 1941. Gerard Smith, Owner & President of Greensmith, learned from his father that passion and care were the key to sustainable farming. It is from those strong family values the brand Greensmith was born. A play on the word “blacksmith”, Greensmith pays homage to the Smiths while highlighting the teams mastery in apiculture, farming, cannabis cultivation and skills in creating hand forged natural products. Here at Greensmith, we believe everything we need is right here in our backyard. Being from the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador, we have grown accustomed to working with what we have, thus being innovative has become an integral part of our DNA. Starting in Fall 2018, we’ve been expanding in every way while maintaining our strong commitment to research and development. From amending our depleted soil through composting materials from local sources, to secondary processing using our fruits, vegetables, and honeybee products, we strive to bring products to market that have a near-zero environmental impact. Self-sufficiency is the long-term vision here at Greensmith – to cultivate, process, and package high-quality products for local farm gate sales and national and international markets.
