Green Education Foundation (GEF) is a non-profit organization committed to creating a sustainable future through education. Sustainability education provides students with the real-world applied learning models that connect science, technology, and math education with the broader human concerns of environmental, economic, and social systems. GEF provides curriculum and resources to K14 students and teachers worldwide with the goal of challenging them to think holistically and critically about global environmental concerns and solutions. GEF Institute, a division of GEF, was established to meet the increasing demand for sustainability eduation. The Institute builds on GEF's expertise by offering eBooks and online courses in sustainability to educators, students at the high school and undergraduate level, employees and professionals. In addition to individual online courses, the Institute offers a professional certificate in sustainability concepts. The Green Academy is a focus program at Santa Barbara High School. Our goal is to encourage environmental stewardship, foster scholastic achievement, support community involvement, and develop a deep understanding of local ecological issues. We are actively building a succession of courses and projects to offer our students an articulated program that will propel them into their chosen pursuit, be it academic or vocational.
