Greenlet is a Smart Grid startup focused on Scalable Energy Control solutions for electric companies (utilities). Greenlet’s system helps electric companies reduce power during peak days, and it lets residential and commercial customers get money for power reduction. Greenlet’s value proposition – Scalability & Control. The unique deployment model and technology allows sending small units (‘greenlets’) to customers by mail, for quick self-deployment. These units monitor and control power of appliances, and automatically communicate with Greenlet’s central management software which is managed from the electric company control center. The management software monitors and controls power consumption, predicts power consumption, notify customers and perform performance-based billing. Electric companies quickly and reliably deploy Demand Response programs, without the need to send technicians to the sites. Greenlet started sales in 2010 and is working with some of the largest US utilities and with Israel Electric Corp. The system (software, communications and hardware) is suitable for North America, Europe, Israel and some other countries. Greenlet was founded by Avner Cohen and Nir Marom. Prior to founding Greenlet, Avner worked for 3 startups that were acquired by giants - Chromatis Networks (sold to Lucent $4.7 billion), Native Networks (sold for Alcatel, now Alcatel-Lucent for $55M (NYSE; Euronext: ALU)), and iamba Networks (sold for Marvell for $10M).
