The Department is an independent graphic design and branding studio in San Francisco, California. Our name sounds large — but we’re actually small, agile, and proudly boutique. We specialize in branding and design for restaurants, food / drink, hospitality, and retail. Our versatile creative approach spans several touch points resulting in unique solutions and memorable experiences.

Object-Matter is a multi-disciplinary design studio based in Los Angeles. Our mission is to merge creativity and culture through uplifting visual projects and campaigns. We are a female-led, bipoc team pursue a variety of projects across branding, strategy, creative campaigns, art direction, illustration, artistic and experiential installations and unique conceptual projects. The studio pursues creative interests across various disciplines: from brand strategy to digital solutions, interior design and scenography, as well as conceptual creation, art direction, photography and illustration.

My name is Miles McIlhargie and I’m a proud papa, graphic designer, art director, branding consultant and part-time photographer currently located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I am an AICSD and AIC alum and have been working within the field of design and advertising for close to 10 years. My professional history includes working for boutique design studios, traditional advertising agencies and teaching Visual Communications students at Colorado Technical University. The scope of my work includes creative development and brand management for small and medium sized clients in many industries, across many time zones, from Seattle to Cape Town.
