The Great Southwest Officials Association provides basketball referees to most NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA member institutions in Texas and Oklahoma, as well as many in New Mexico, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi. GSOA officials, numbering more than 500, are independent contractors working for the coordinator of officials, Tony Stigliano. Tony Stigliano assigns officials to the following conferences: Lone Star, American Southwest, Heartland, Red River, Southern Collegiate Athletic, Texas Eastern, Dallas Metro, North Texas Junior College, and Western Junior College. Officials interested in working in the GSOA and those who are already on staff attend GSOA summer camps to improve their abilities and have their performance evaluated.
