The Graycliff Estate, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is one of Wright's most important mid-career designs. Located on a cliff overlooking Lake Erie, just south of Buffalo, NY, Graycliff includes three buildings set within 8.4 acres of grounds and gardens. With sweeping views of Canada, Graycliff's tranquil ambience and setting have inspired Graycliff to be called the "Jewel on the Lake." Gracious terraces, a fountain and pond, sunken gardens, and Wright's famouse cantilevered balconies are just a few of Graycliff's charms. The largest building, the Isabelle R. Martin House, is actually transparent, with views through the house to the lake itself....remarkably innovative for this 1926 design.
