Grassroot Communities Information

Grassroot Communities is a Bristol-based Community Interest Company working with young people aged 8 to 30 from underserved communities across the city. We believe young people have all the talent. What they don't always have are the opportunities. We're here to close that gap. Our work is shaped by what local young people and communities tell us they need. It includes detached youth work on Bristol's streets, one-to-one and peer-to-peer mentoring, creative and nature-based projects, sport, leadership programmes, paid internships, and youth-led media including our What Really Matters podcast. Last year we supported 5,200 young people across Bristol. 98% said they felt more confident after our programmes, and 26 young people who weren't in education, training or employment moved into one of those routes through GAP, our dedicated programme. Bristol Birdman, our annual flying machine competition on the harbourside, is the biggest single fundraiser for this work. All profits from team entry, sponsorship and donations funds year-round youth work in Bristol.
