Grandwork Tools Information

Chris Brown RPT MPT started work as a piano technician in 1977. A graduate of North Bennet Street School, he has worn many hats in his career: college technician, concert tuner, rebuilder, private customer piano-care provider, teacher. Gradually, Chris specialized in action work and in 2005, he set up a shop exclusively for action service, repair, and rebuilding. Chris had the notion that a horizontal surface over the back of a grand action could allow a technician to travel and square hammers to vertical, improving a piano's playability and tone while simplifying its regulation and voicing. The Squaring Platform, Shank Traveler, and Hammer Square were born (and later, U.S. Patent No. 8,227,674 was granted). The Grandwork System now provides a long list of grand piano pain relief measures. These fall along the lines of better work visibility, easier access, reduction of rework, and optimization of results! Periodic regulations benefit customer, technician, dealer, and manufacturer. With less experience needed to successfully regulate, the Grandwork System helps those entering the trade and those hiring them, enhancing work for the most skillful technician as well.
