Granada International School Information

Granada International School is a small bilingual school located in Granada, Nicaragua. GIS has the only 50:50 dual language program in the city. GIS aims to engage each student in a creative, experiential, and bilingual learning environment to uncover the maximum intellectual, artistic, and physical potential of each student. Our objective is to develop a lifelong love of learning and create a strong foundation for future academic achievement. This experience is conducted in an innovative environment that values critical and independent thinking, community responsibility, a strong sense of inner discipline, the ability to embrace life’s challenges with confidence, and a willingness to explore cultural differences with an open mind.A fundamental aspect of our charter is to assure that a minimum of 35% of our student body is supported by donations and scholarships. We do not want to turn away a child interested in an education because of money. This type of education is expensive but we want it to be available to everyone. Regardless of a family’s economic situation, their children are no less deserving of a quality education and we aim to offer it to as many interested families as possible.Granada International School genuinely seeks to be a diverse community of learners and aspires to prepare students for the academic rigors of a competitive high school and university, to develop a strong sense of inner confidence and conviction, and the desire to lead creative and purposeful lives.At this time, we offer Preschool for 2- to 5- year olds and Grades 1st - 7th, and are adding a class each year until we reach our goal of grade 12. We are quickly outgrowing our space and are hoping to relocate our school to a larger campus that we can grow into. Our fundraising arm, Friends of the Sacuanjoche School, Inc., holds 501c3 status in the United States and aids us in raising funds to meet our goals.
