Graduate Women International (GWI) was founded in 1919 as the International Federation of University (IFUW) and is a worldwide, non-governmental organisation of women graduates. GWI provides a global voice for graduate women through consultative status on United Nations' committeesUNICEF, ECOSOC, ILO and UNESCO. GWI forms an international network of women working for advancement through advocacy, empowerment and the delivery of enabling programmes. GWI members collectively use their expertise to effect change at all levels. They provide leadership and collaborative interdisciplinary approaches to issues. The focus of GWI is the status of women, education, the environment, peace and human security. GWI has members in 100 countries, and there are 60 National Affiliate (NA) organisations.
