GP Match Information

GP Match is a new and designated resource to the area of entering and exiting General Practice. The idea is to connect like-minded GPs entering and exiting General Practice with a view to forming a structured and tax-efficient succession strategy. The purpose is to demonstrate that there are still opportunities in General Practice (and explain them), encourage the retention of Irish trained GPs and support retiring GPs providing valuable succession options. More info: • Many establishing GPs are unsure which career path to take and the corresponding business implications of each. Some fear that Irish general practice is not a viable career choice with better resourced opportunities abroad. • At the same time, many GPs approaching retirement feel there is no obvious succession option for their practice and have no other option but to shut the door behind them. • GP Match aim to dispel the above and work with both groups to highlight the various opportunities available. We provide tax-efficient structures which are attractive to both parties providing a structured exit strategy and a promising career path simultaneously. Aims: • Demonstrate that Irish General Practice can be a viable and promising career. • Explain the financial, taxation and business implications of the various career paths; salaried employee, independent contractor, partnership etc. • Encourage the retention of Irish trained GPs. • Support retiring GPs in structuring tax-efficient succession strategies. • Connect compatible GPs with common goals and realistic expectations. • Provide workable succession solutions.
