www.GovTrack.us is one of the world’s most visited free government information websites, using information published by the Government Publishing Office and other legislative branch agencies, plus our own original research, to track the daily activities of the United States Congress. The website is used by some 10 million individuals annually, including congressional staff, journalists, legislative professionals at small business, educators and students, and the general public. Our work catalyzed the world-wide open government data movement in the mid 2000’s and inspired the Government Publishing Office’s efforts in the 2010’s to create the first official “bulk data” for legislative information. GovTrack has had an out-sized impact given our size. We have an annual operating budget of approximately $75,000, which primarily supports the work of our four part-time staff members.
