Gothic Opera Information

Hello, we’re Gothic Opera. We are a female-led company based in London, and we put on award-winning, atmospheric productions of rarely-heard operatic works with supernatural themes. We produce a flagship production each Halloween, and we always keep ticket prices low. One of our central aims is to open up the art form to those who are not familiar with it. We are becoming increasingly well known among audiences, critics, and artists, particularly those in the early part of their careers. “Gothic Opera is one of those invaluable small companies that give audiences the chance to see rarely performed operas at affordable prices — and offer young singers the opportunity to take on roles that both test their talents and showcase their strengths” - Owen Davies, Plays to See. Founded by Alice Usher, Béatrice de Larragoïti and Charlotte Osborn, we launched with Der Vampyr in 2019, becoming a registered charity in 2020. Gothic Opera’s Halloween 2021 opera La Nonne sanglante (The Bloody Nun) was the winner of the Opera Production category in the Off-West End Awards.
