Weed Me Inc. was established in April 2016. From the beginning, founders Terry Kulaga and Benny Pressman recognized the need for publicly responsible and trustworthy marijuana producers in the emerging Canadian cannabis market. The company's vision became to fulfill the need in the Canada market for high-quality, organic cannabis products. In the beginning, we took a staple concept in real estate: "location, location, location" and applied it to the business of cannabis production. Basing our facility in Pickering, about 35 minute drive from downtown Toronto, provided us with some unique benefits. Close proximity to a large metropolitan centre meant we were able to hire and start with the best talent and skill across all the positions in the company, without having to relocate people to remote areas. Being close to Toronto also provides us access to the biggest urban and suburban market in Canada, with over 6.5 million people living within an hour drive from the production facility. This means we can deliver our products quickly, efficiently, and with a much smaller logistics and supply chains than other producers. Rooting our facility in Pickering also resolved a lot of the major concerns about safety and security. The production plant is away from any residential areas, schools, or walk-in businesses. Having a discreet lot of land allowed us to implement the most stringent security measures and install a security system that ensures all visitors are always seen both inside the facility and around its premises. In November of the same year, the company submitted an application to the government of Canada to become an official producer of medicinal cannabis products. From the outset, the company's vision was to bring onboard the best and leading individuals in the industry, from chemists to management to consultants helping with the necessary steps to obtain the license as quickly as possible and demonstrate to the government that Weed Me is serious about expanding their business.
